Avvasi

At the core of Avvasi solutions is a unique technology that allows for a highly scalable, real-time measurement of video-based Quality of Experience (QoE). Much like MOS scores, this perceptual measurement accurately reflects subscribers perceived experiences with video content. Avvasi is able to break down video traffic by device, source, content, media format, media duration, and network topology.

Avvasi Q-VUE

Q-VUE is the first network-based system that enables service providers to monitor, process, and analyze the video demographics and Quality of Experience (QoE) of mobile video traffic. Q-VUE implements a zero-reference QoE model in a network-wide deployment that scales to support 3G and 4G networks. The system employs a passive probe that analyzes all traffic on a network, providing real-time analytics for media content. Furthermore, the data provides for the extraction of live traffic analytics and identification of video usage trends, which together form the basis of revenue-generating service offerings. Q-VUE provides a high-performance analytical database solution to allow the retrieved data to be collated and analyzed using automated and ad hoc methods, and provides support for real-time data mining. This OTT video business intelligence offers seamless integration into OSS/BSS systems to support revenue assurance and service planning activities.

Q-VUE provides:

  • The only RAN-aware OTT video QoE measurement system
  • Real-time media information capture that allows you to identify current trends and create revenue-generating offerings
  • Interactive data analysis
  • Accurate measurement of subscriber QoE
  • Early detection of users likely to churn as a result of poor user experience

Avvasi Q-SRV

Q-SRV is an innovative and unique traffic management solution that puts QoE at the center of the decision making process for the management and monetization of video traffic in mobile networks.

Q-SRV features:

  • Real-time QoE-driven traffic management
  • Video policy control (per session)
  • RAN / location-aware policies
  • Analytics (real-time drillable and historical)
  • LTE-ready scalability and density

o   Xperium 10 for distributed deployments

o   Xperium 40 for centralized deployment

Service providers now have a choice when it comes to managing video traffic on their network.

Unmanaged Network Q-SRV Managed Network
Assumption driven Measurement driven
Opaque (Black Box) Transparent
Binary, on/off Granular per subscriber, session, service, device type, location, time of day…
Minimal control Full flexible control, manage QoE per session
Unexpected and undesirable results Measure, plan, adjust in real time
Marginal traffic savings, significant QoE loss Improved traffic savings, Increase overall QoE
Capex deferral business case, Subscriber loyalty at risk Balance between revenue and cost
Destroy user experience Measure, Improve, Monetize QoE

Video Network Analytics

Avvasi Video Network Analytics (VNA) is helping mobile service providers intelligently and cost-effectively design and dimension their networks to handle the growing demand for mobile video.

Avvasi VNA provides a rich suite of unparalleled video traffic analytics tools that enable service providers to monitor, store, collate, and analyze data related to the mobile video network traffic. This data is available from the Avvasi Q-VUE analytics store to create automated reports or to run interactive, ad-hoc queries through the Avvasi reporting client.

  • Video optimization planning, dimensioning, business case analysis, and ongoing Service Level monitoring
  • Understand the network impact of newer, larger screen devices
  • Understand the impact of over-the-top (OTT) video streaming compared to on-deck videos services

Video Service Assurance

Video Service Assurance (VSA) is designed to provide the same detailed analytics available in VNA product but in a format specifically designed for integration with third party applications such as Operational Support Systems (OSS)/Business Support Systems (BSS), or Test and Measurement systems.

VSA provides exportable media session records in structured format Usage Detail Records (UDRs). This allows for the capture and export of key mobile video business intelligence for mediation and settlement in mobile service provider business systems. VSA follows the Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) standard for the production of XML encoded records. The records are stored locally and are collected through file transfer protocol (FTP) by a mediation system for further processing.

VSA solution uses the same innovative Avvasi technology as VNA to determine the QoE for each mobile video session through a passive monitoring probe to:

  • Reduce video subscriber churn and maximize revenue
  • Troubleshoot networks using video QoE triggers

QoE Measurement

Avvasi QoE management is the first industry solution to enable network operators to actively manage their video traffic, using QoE as the Key Performance Indicator to:

  • Examine traffic in real time and historically
  • Analyse traffic by device, subscriber, session, location, time of day, service, video type and attribute, or any chosen combination
  • Visualize network congestion and other problem areas
  • Enact policies to automatically apply real-time management of video QoE
  • Enforce video QoE levels
  • Establish SLAs with OTT providers
  • Enable net neutrality in an equitable fashion
  • Control device behaviour
  • Increase virtual network capacity
  • Reduce churn, increase loyalty
  • Simplify traffic management decisions through a single point of management and measurement for QoE
